Former Liverpool and Crystal Palace star Ray Houghton has some words of advice for new Palace manager Patrick Vieira.
The Arsenal legend is now in charge at the London club ahead of the new Premier League season.
Vieira takes over from veteran Roy Hodgson, who kept Palace in the Premier League against the odds on several occasions.
Houghton spoke to the Daily Express about Vieira and suggested the Frenchman take a few pointers from Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.
"Well, I hope it's a successful appointment. Obviously, they had Frank de Boer and that didn't quite work out," Houghton said.
"They obviously went through quite a few managers, like Sam Allardyce and Roy Hodgson.
"You're always sceptical [about managerial appointments]. Are they going to be the right one? Do they know the club? Do they know what the club is about?
"That's one of the things that Jurgen [Klopp] has done at Liverpool. Jurgen came in and learnt all about the club, the fans, and what the fans wanted.
"He said what Liverpool fans wanted to hear and they (the fans) were ecstatic with what they got.
"He understood what Liverpool was about as a club, and that is what I would advocate to anyone coming into a club.
"Find out about the club. Find out about the fans. Find out about what makes the fans tick, not just what makes the players tick.
"You have to use the fans in a positive way. I've seen some of the things Patrick has been saying: 'I've gone to a great club', and they are the things that you need to be saying.
"Fans want you to learn about their club. They want you to think it's a big experience for you."
