Tottenham are challenging Chelsea as they attempt to sign Wolfsburg defender Maxence Lacroix.
The club's new director of football Fabio Paratici is said to rate Lacroix very highly.
The 21-year-old Frenchman impressed with Wolfsburg as they finished in the top four of the German league last term.
Sky Germany initially linked Chelsea to the defender, while Sky Italia's Gianluca Di Marzio now says Spurs want to sign him as well.
Wolfsburg are not eager to sell, but a £25million offer is thought to be enough to secure Lacroix.
