Dutch great Ruud Krol insists Juventus is the right club for Matthijs de Ligt.
Krol has rejected Marco van Basten's claims that De Ligt has gone backwards since leaving Ajax for Juve two years ago.
The former Napoli star told Radio Bianconera: "Italy is the perfect school for defence. "And Matthijs has grown enormously in his role in the past two years. He deserves compliments, because he is one of the best defenders in Serie A.
"He has had a special season, with the injury and the new coach (Andrea Pirlo) who filled in the defensive aspect in a different way. With the arrival of Massimiliano Allegri, a lot will change again, who is really a genius in defensive terms."
On claims De Ligt must leave to fulfill his potential, Krol added: "I don't believe that. He already plays for a great club where he can take every detail of the art of defending. And I personally don't think De Ligt is unhappy at Juventus."
