Manchester United have been linked with a surprise move for Rangers right-back James Tavernier, according to 90min.

The Red Devils are trying to sign a right-back to compete with Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Their number one target has been Atletico Madrid and England ace Kieran Trippier.

But negotiations have stalled as Atleti are sticking to their £20m, which United have deemed too expensive.

A cheaper alternative would be Tavernier, who captained Rangers to the Scottish Premier League title this past season.

Known for his attacking ability and set-piece proficiency, 29-year-old Tavernier has been with Rangers since 2015.

Arsenal, Brighton and Norwich have also shown an interest in the former Newcastle United man.

The Gunners are hoping to sign a replacement for Hector Bellerin, who is expected to depart the club this summer.
