Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was pleased to see Emile Smith Rowe score in the 2-1 friendly loss to Hibernian on Tuesday.

The England U21 playmaker came on as a second-half substitute to pull a goal back for his side.

When asked about Smith Rowe's goal, Arteta responded: "He knows that it is a part of the game he needs to get better at.

"We are working on it a lot and you could see the positions that he took today. He created two or three big chances."

The Gunners are desperate for Smith Rowe to sign a new contract.

They are fending off interest from Aston Villa, who have failed with two offers for the 20-year-old.
