Manchester City are threatening to hijack Arsenal's plans for Ben White.
The Gunners have failed with an offer £45m to sign the Brighton centre-back.
Brighton are reportedly holding out for £50m.
And according to The Transfer Window podcast, City have held 'preliminary' talks with White.
However, City will need to offload Aymeric Laporte before signing the 23-year-old.
White is currently away with England at Euro 2020 and recently admitted he was flattered by the transfer speculation.
Asked about the news surrounding his future this summer, White told talkSPORT last week: "It's nice, it's happened quite a lot over the last two years, there's been a lot of noise."
