Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce is moving for Marseille star Boubacar Kamara.
The 21-year-old operates primarily as a defensive midfielder.
But he would also offer Bruce an option in central defence as well, reports the Mirror.
Kamara is in the final year of his contract with Marseille and it is understood that the Ligue 1 club will consider any offers in or around the £15million mark.
Liverpool and Manchester City have monitored the player watched without ever firming up their interest.
Newcastle, though, see a versatile performer whose resale value has the potential to rise significantly if he does well in the Premier League.
