Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa explained holding back Kalvin Phillips for defeat at Manchester United.
Bielsa insists Phillips wasn't injured for the game.
He said, "Phillips is a player that always shines. I don't think it's a question of individuals as to why we couldn't play a more balanced game."
"There's no new injuries that I'm aware of at the moment and of course Kalvin is always in consideration to be a starter but his lack of preparation hindered him."
On Robin Knoch's performance in midfield, the manager added: "I liked how he played. I thought he was a dynamic player, he was present. He was willing and committed and made lots of [defensive] efforts."
