Newcastle United midfielder Jonjo Shelvey says he's well aware of the special talent of Allan Saint-Maximin.

Shelvey admits he's a big fan of his Toon teammate.

He told the Beautiful Game: "He's a lunatic, he's very classy. What a player. And he's also a great person, very relaxed. He gets fined every day for wearing earrings and things like that.

“He's been extraordinary. We're a counter-attack team so we just have to try to get the ball to him and let him try to get past 20 players. He's one of those players who has electrifying speed, I can't praise him enough. He improved a lot defensively. When he signed he didn't want to run back to defend, but the coach managed to get him to do it. Things that will make him even more complete.

"I remember the leap he took in a goal he headed in against Sheffield United. It was comparable to the elevation of [Cristiano] Ronaldo."
