Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce is delighted with what he's seen from Joe White in preseason.
Bruce admits that White is giving him food for thought ahead of the Premier League's big kick off against West Ham.
Whether Bruce - who stated his midfield was looking "very short" during pre-season - feels the time is right to hand White a top-flight debut remains to be seen, but the Cumbrian has gone about his business like a seasoned professional in his three appearances in friendlies so far.
Speaking after the 2-0 win after Burton, Bruce, who has since played White again against Burnley, said: "He caught the eye, didn't he?
"We brought him up about 18 months ago before Covid, and he quietly impressed us."
