Newcastle United are set to allow midfielder Matty Longstaff to leave on loan before the August 31st deadline.

The central midfielder is not in the immediate plans of manager Steve Bruce, per the Daily Mail.

Bruce wants to trim his squad, as he looks to bring in one or two players to freshen up the team.

Newcastle retain an interest in Leicester's Hamza Choudhury, Tottenham's Harry Winks, and Manchester United's Phil Jones.

The source claims that Sheffield United and Huddersfield Town are showing an interest in Longstaff.

Bruce said: "It's something that we have decided might be best for Matty. I have had that conversation with him.

"We have had one or two enquiries and hope something happens in the next couple of days."
