Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce blamed VAR for defeat at Aston Villa.

Bruce was left fuming over VAR decision after the 2-0 defeat against Aston Villa.

The Magpies conceded a penalty after a Jamaal Lascelles handball before Callum Wilson was denied a spot-kick in the second half.

Bruce reflected after the game: "I didn't think we were looking at lines anymore, lines from armpits.

"I'm disappointed with VAR. He's offside from a toe again?

"I'm really frustrated. The handball as well, nobody in the ground thought it was handball."

Bruce was applauded by Villa fans as he made his way to the pitch before the game.

The former Villa manager said: "I got a better reception today from when I was manager here!"
