SHAH ALAM, Aug 9 — Two districts in Selangor, namely Sepang and Kuala Selangor, have reached their target to deliver the first dose of Covid-19 vaccines to those who have registered for their shots.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said three more districts — Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat and Sabak Bernam — have recorded over 80 per cent of its adult population to have received their first jab.

“The state government is working closely with the state-level PICK (National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme) to boost efforts in increasing the vaccination rates in the other districts.

“(We hope the efforts) would boost and complete the vaccination rate in order to reach herd immunity soon,” said Amirudin in a video posted on his Facebook today.

He said 78.06 per cent of registered individuals in Petaling have received their first vaccine dose, followed by Hulu Selangor (57.24 per cent), Klang (51.13 per cent) and Gombak (25.19 per cent).

Amirudin said as of August 6, a total of 5,202,787 of the adult population in Selangor have signed up for their vaccination appointments.

Yesterday, Selangor has recorded a cumulative total of 5.32 million vaccine doses administered PICK, with 1.77 million have completed their two doses of vaccines.

An additional 245,746 doses have been administered under the Selangor Vaccination Programme (Selvax).
