Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott is determined to prove himself a first team regular.

Elliott was a huge success during his stay in the Championship with Blackburn last term and was nominated for the EFL Young Player of the Season award.

The 18-year-old subsequently shone for the Reds during pre-season and, after a brief substitute role at Norwich City on the opening day, hugely impressed on his first Premier League start in Saturday's 2-0 win over Burnley.

Now Elliott is eager to similarly capitalise on future opportunities in Jurgen Klopp's starting line-up.

"I think I've matured a lot as a player and as a man now that I've turned 18," he said.

"Every single day was a different day at Blackburn with different training sessions and different situations leading up to games, new experiences. I learned a lot.

"Getting so many games under my belt at my age is going to help me in the future, but especially now.

"Hopefully it leads me on my way to becoming a consistent starter for Liverpool. That's my goal and my dream and I'm willing to work hard for that.

"It's down to me to take the opportunities when they come."
