Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce insists his side were unlucky in their loss to Burnley on Wednesday.
Toon exited the Carabao Cup at the second-round after losing on penalties to the Clarets, with the game finishing 0-0 after 90 minutes.
"We played very well on the night, I have to say," Bruce told reporters after the game.
"I can't really remember my goalkeeper having to make a save.
"We've created some great chances and we didn't take them.
"Unfortunately for us, it proved costly but I couldn't fault the way we played.
"There were a lot of very good performances out there."
