Burnley boss Sean Dyche is pleased to still be in the Carabao Cup after victory over Newcastle United.

Burnley will now face Rochdale at Turf Moor after beating Premier League rivals Newcastle United 4-3 on penalties at St James' Park.

“We are stretched but the mentality has won us through tonight; the will, the desire, the good habits," said Dyche.

“There was nothing it in the first half. I thought both teams were off.

“In the second half they started brightly but once again our mentality, organisation, the will and the desire were there.

“All those things are important when you're wearing a Burnley shirt and I thought they were on show.

“It's tough coming here, especially when we're patching a side together, so I'm very pleased to get through.

"It's a good win which brings that sort of feel-good to the group, especially when they are stretched."
