Benfica are firming as favourites to land David Luiz.
A free agent after his release from Arsenal, Luiz has been in talks with Flamengo.
However, Globo Esporte says the Brazilian is ready to return to former club Benfica - should they clinch qualification to the Champions League group phase.
Like with Fla, Luiz is also in talks with Benfica and favours a return to Portugal.
Driving the deal is Benfica coach Jorge Jesus, who will be backed to sign the 34 year-old should they navigate their Champions League qualifiers.
