Chelsea left-back Emerson has joined Ligue 1 side Lyon on a season long loan.
Lyon have an option to buy the Italy international at the end of the 2021/22 campaign.
The Blues also received a loan fee €500,000 and could reach another €500,000 in bonuses.
The French club said: "Olympique Lyonnais announces the arrival on loan of defender and double European Champion (with Italy and Chelsea), Emerson Palmieri, through June 30, 2022.
"This loan, for a fee of €500,000, to which could be added a maximum of €500,000 in bonuses, will include a purchase option.
"Olympique Lyonnais welcomes the arrival of Emerson, who will be the third player, defender and Italian international in the history of the club, after Fabio Grosso (2007-2009) and Mattia de Sciglio last season last season."
