Real Madrid fullback Alvaro Odriozola is joining Fiorentina on-loan.
The deal could go some way to accommodating Kylian Mbappe's arrival at Valdebebas and, perhaps significantly, has freed up the No.19 shirt that could be occupied by the Frenchman, reports Marca.
It is Odriozola's second loan move since joining Real Madrid for 2018/19, having spent part of the 2019/20 season on loan at Bayern Munich. There, much like in Madrid, he found first team appearances hard to come by and has decided to step down from the European elite in order to join La Viola, where he will hope to find more regular minutes.
Lucas Vazquez's contract renewal showed Odriozola where he stood in the pecking order at Real Madrid, finding himself behind both the Galician and Dani Carvajal. Lucas only started playing at right-back last season as Zinedine Zidane looked to find solutions in Carvajal's absence, and the writing has since been on the wall for Odriozola.
