Manchester United great Peter Schmeichel admits he's tried to buy Brondby in the past.

Brøndby was bought in 2013 by Aldo Petersen, who was eventually bought out by Jan Bech Andersen, who is today the main shareholder in the club.

However, it could have been Schmeichel, as he reveals in his new book 'One'.

"At one point I talked to Jan Bech Andersen about how to lift Brøndby. But I think he was most interested in picking me up for ideas and making use of my network," writes Schmeichel.

"I considered another takeover bid and also came a long way, but I dropped it because the money I had available would be spent on buying shares, not on developing the club. I was only interested in joining if the focus was on developing the football part.

"When I talk today about my visions for Brøndby, people are still interested - people who have trained, played and worked in the Premier League. The Brøndby idea appeals to many - and so does the idea of having three, four, five years to build and develop a football club."
