Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers says expectations have been raised this season.

Rodgers has been explaining why the club's move to their new training ground at Seagrave means there is now 'no excuse' for his players.

City left their Belvoir Drive base that they called home for 56 years late last year, with that site now serving as a standalone facility for the Women's team who compete in the Barclays Women's Super League.

This current season is the first full campaign at the new address.

"Players at this level obviously want to be in the best facility they can be," he explained. "Maybe in the other facility, which was great, you can maybe find something if you are looking for it.

"Here, there is no excuse. You cannot blame anyone else.

"This is a world-class facility, state of the art.

"It is going to stand the test of time; it has been future-proofed in its set up. So you have every opportunity here.

"You give the best, hopefully to the best, and you get the best back."

The 48-year-old went on to explain how his players now have all they could need to maximise their talents and, in turn, the potential of the team.

"They play in a team, but for me, a player is self-employed, really," Rodgers added.

"They obviously earn more than a joiner or a bricklayer, but it is the same idea. You need the tools to do your job. Here, they have every tool in order to be the best they can be.

"The responsibility is theirs then."
