The agent of Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has detailed how close he came to joining Everton.
Guido Albers revealed Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp was sought out as Everton had a loan offer on the table for Van de Beek.
He told Ziggo Sport: "Donny was able to continue living in Manchester. He discussed it with his father and his father-in-law (Dennis Bergkamp).
"A step lower, but play every week because Everton don't have a 'ten'.
"The picture was complete, but on Monday evening (a day before the transfer deadline) we received a call from (Ole Gunner) Solskjaer and the board that it was unnegotiable."
