Mikel Arteta has confirmed Emile Smith Rowe is in doubt for Saturday's meeting with Norwich City.
The young playmaker was sent home from England U21 duty after coming down with an illness.
And Arteta has revealed the 20-year-old is still recovering.
"He's carrying an illness. He's not been feeling good," Arteta confirmed in his pre-match press conference.
"He could not stay there and the England national team was really positive about letting him go, because everybody could see he wasn't available. Let's see how he is in the next couple of days."
