Arsenal youngster Emile Smith Rowe was sent back to the club from England U21 on Tuesday.
The 20-year-old playmaker was due to play for the Young Lions against Kosovo for Euro 2023 qualifying, which they won 2-0.
Speaking prior to kick-off, manager Lee Carsley confirmed Smith Rowe was sent home after feeling unwell.
"It's not Covid related," Carsley told Sky Sports. "He was just feeling unwell so we decided to send him back to Arsenal.
"He didn't feel 100 per cent so the best thing to do for Emile was to send him back."
