Blackburn Rovers boss Tony Mowbray believes Harvey Elliott will be back better than ever after his horror injury against Leeds United.

The teenager was on loan with Blackburn last season, and has been in Liverpool's starting lineup for most of their Premier League games so far this term.

However, his season is cut short due to a horror ankle injury sustained after a freak coming together with Leeds defender Pascal Struijk.

"We're all disappointed for Harvey, of course," said Mowbray, per Lancashire Live.

"He's started the season really well at Liverpool starting in their first team and making a big impact.

"It's just really frustrating and disappointing. You're hoping that he goes on and fulfils his potential and enjoys a great season, cementing himself as a regular at Liverpool football club, international football and beyond.

"It looked a bad injury. It's for Liverpool, Harvey and his family to see how long his rehabilitation is and hopefully he comes back strong and continues."
