Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone is determined to manage Luis Suarez's games at this stage in the season.

Marca says Suarez was Simeone's main target last summer and intervened at the eleventh hour when the former Barcelona man looked set to join Juventus over the Colchoneros. On his debut with Atleti, Suarez scored a brace against Granada as he went on to be one of Simeone's most important players that season.

Even though he started on the bench on Saturday, September 18 against Athletic Club he still has the support of Diego Simeone to have another successful season at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Atletico Madrid's No.9 played the full 90 minutes against Porto in the Champions League in a game that ended goalless. This was the reason behind him being benched against the Basque team to ensure he did not suffer any needless injury especially with his knee still a worry.

The plan to look after Suarez is something that Simeone hopes brings the striker many more games. However saving him for important matches carries its own risk especially with the player currently out of form.
