Barcelona president Joan Laporta agreed to remove Samuel Umtiti from the transfer list after an emotional meeting last week.

In a tense meeting he had with Joan Laporta, the Barcelona president pointed out that Umtiti had barely contributed in the last few seasons, as the 27-year-old centre-back hasn't enjoyed much game time.

Mundo Deportivo says Umtiti burst into tears during the meeting and explained to Laporta that the club's medical staff failed to treat his injury properly.

The Barcelona president listened to Umtiti's explanation, agreed to let him be part of the squad for the 2021/22 campaign and promised that he will discuss his situation with coach Ronald Koeman.

It was reportedly at that moment, when Umtiti broke down as a result of the tension he went through during the meeting, that he was granted another opportunity at Barcelona.
