Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy has urged the club to re-sign Mohamed Salah no matter what it costs.

The Egyptian is reportedly demanding £500,000-a-week to stay at Anfield, with his current deal entering its final two years.

PSG have been linked with the 29-year-old, and Murphy thinks his former club should do their best to keep Salah on Merseyside.

"You don't want him getting into a situation where there's a year left [on his deal]. There's no point in letting that happen, you protect the asset," he told TalkSport .

"If Mbappe goes next summer, PSG will want to replace him with a superstar who can score goals. There's not many better than Salah.

"It's very difficult for me to give perspective on this because would I ever leave Liverpool to go to PSG? No, because Liverpool's my team.

"Mo Salah, in the past, there has been rumours about him wanting to play in Spain. If you're talking about going to play in Spain to fulfil a childhood dream, it's very different to talking about being greedy and money.

"If you look at the financial predicament [Real] Madrid and Barcelona are in, would that even be possible? Because [Madrid] are going to throw all their [money] at Mbappe anyway." has urged the club to re-sign Mohamed Salah no matter what it costs.
