England manager Gareth Southgate has explained his decision to start Trent Alexander-Arnold in midfield against Andorra on Sunday.

The Liverpool right-back played in central midfielder as the Three Lions won 4-0 at Wembley.

Speaking to ITV, Southgate explained: "We know that he is an outstanding footballer - we've wanted to have a look at him in a midfield position for a while.

"He is fabulous with the ball. Today is an opportunity. He's got to play the role his own way..

"We want him to play the role his own way, we're happy for him to drift out wide and deliver those killer balls.

"This season at club level with Harvey Elliott he's been interchanging quite a lot in the middle."
