Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce admits the home jeers hurt him after their 1-1 draw with Leeds United on Friday.
The Geordie is yet to win a game this season but has taken solace from a battling display against Leeds United which ended in a 1-1 draw.
In fairness, it was a much improved display against Leeds but Newcastle are still near the foot of the table.
When asked about the swirl of discontent at St James' Park on Friday night, Bruce said: "It is very, very difficult - it is the demand of a big club.
"We are a big club with huge support.
"And there is a frustration and we want Newcastle competing in the top half of the division.
"At the moment we're not.
"So we have to accept the criticism that comes our way and get on with it, not let it affect you.
"And keep trying to do your job the best you can."
Bruce endured the boos from the stands and tried to stay focus on his team.
When asked if it had affected his performance in the dugout, Bruce added: "It is difficult to answer that, you are disappointed with it of course.
"I'm not going to say I enjoy it but I bear their frustrations. I understand.
"I am never going to shy away from it.
"Especially when there's a fight on our hands and we're in it.
"That won't deter me that's for sure."
