Benfica coach Jorge Jesus admits he wanted to sign David Luiz.
The released Arsenal defender is now set to join Flamengo after Benfica refused to back Jorge Jesus' push for the 34 year-old Brazilian.
The Benfica coach explained: "Everyone knows the name that was mentioned.
"If David Luiz didn't come, there wouldn't be any more players, because I didn't want it, I stayed with the ones I had. And we kept what we have.
"We have Ferro, it didn't come out to fill in this possibility."
