Former Hoffenheim coach Ralf Rangnick is being linked with a role at Newcastle United.
Rangnick is currently Head of Sports and Development at Lokomotiv Moscow although would understood to be open to the challenge of an executive role at Newcastle, says ChronicleLive.
No doubt there will be others keen to speak to United, who are assessing options after getting the keys to the club on Thursday. Lee Charnley is remaining in his role on an interim basis to help smooth the transition, but will depart in the coming weeks.
Asked about the Sporting Director position, Amanda Staveley said on Thursday: "We have thought about sporting directors and Directors of Football but we need to sit down with our board and look at what we have today. You can bring in the best Sporting Director in the world but you've got no infrastructure.
"Your medical staff, your training facilities, they need really heavy investment and that's what we need to know at every single level. We need to attract people to work with us as well who share our dream and will do that."
