Former Aston Villa captain Gabby Agbonlahor says Manchester United should consider John McGinn.

McGinn was outstanding for Villa's win at United a fortnight ago.

“I say it every time I see him play, [Scott] McTominay is the better version of Fred, definitely. Every time Fred gets the ball he gives it away - sloppy passes when they're trying to build attacks," Agbonlahor told talkSPORT .

“I don't see why he [Fred] is in that Manchester United team. I'd rather [Jesse] Lingard all day or give Donny van de Beek a chance. There's a lot of central midfielders that walk into that midfield... John McGinn walks into that midfield."

United continue to be linked with a move for Declan Rice, though McGinn could offer a much cheaper alternative if West Ham continue to demand £100 million for Rice.
