Tottenham star Dele Alli's position in the team is in doubt after he was removed from the squad to take on Burnley in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.

The North London club are hoping to reach the latter stages of the League Cup, and manager Nuno Espirito Santo has made a surprising decision with his matchday squad.

According to the Daily Mail, Alli will not be in the traveling party for the game, which has thrown his future at the club into doubt.

Alli is not injured, with the 25-year-old exiled from the team after his poor display in their derby loss to Arsenal in late September.

Unless he finds a way back into Nuno's plans, Alli may ask to leave the club in January for regular first team football.
