The father of PSG goalkeeper Gigio Donnarumma wasn't surprised seeing his son jeered at the San Siro this week.

AC Milan's Italy fans booed Donnarumma during their Nations League defeat to Spain in midweek angry over the manner of his summer departure.

"I was at the stadium and, of course, I expected it, even if I hoped it wouldn't happen," Donnarumma's father Alfonso told La Repubblica.

“However, Gigio was playing for his country, not for his club. Whistles have hurt him more than us, but he is broad-shouldered, he already has experience both in Serie A and internationally.

“He is even more motivated in these moments."

Alfonso added: “I hope there are no other disputes, but he is calm. He has settled well in Paris and is happy, like us.

“He goes his way and does not let himself be conditioned. He is stronger than those whistles".
