Former Newcastle United winger Alan Thompson admits he isn't surprised seeing few recent graduates from the famous Wallsend Boys' Club.
Elliot Anderson is the most recent name to have donned the yellow and green kit of Wallsend and there's high hopes for him on Tyneside.
However, Thompson told the Under The Cosh podcast, Thompson said: "I started at Wallsend along with many others. There was lads older than myself, but lads in my age group were Lee Clark, Steve Watson, Robbie Elliott and Alan Shearer was slightly older than us.
"Steve Bruce and Peter Beardsley were older than us, Michael Carrick was another who was younger with me.
"There's been a conveyor belt over the years but there hasn't been anyone recently I would say.
"They're still going but I don't know if the academy system has taken that away from the boys clubs or what but there hasn't been anyone come through for a few years.
"It was a great conveyor belt over the years."
