Spain coach Luis Enrique has sung the praises of Gavi after his debut against Italy.

The Barcelona midfielder, 17, became the youngest ever cap for Spain in the Nations League semifinal defeat of Italy on Wednesday night.

Enrique said: "We are talking about an unusual case. He is playing like in the backyard of his house. It's nice to see a player with this quality. He is the future of the National Team and he is also the present.

"Gavi has been huge, but it is not normal. It is something exceptional. He is a profile that is capable of playing between the lines, that plays a lot and well, with a lot of personality. Not only is he the future of the National Team, but we already see that it is also the present. But in addition to Gavi, others like Sarabia, Ferran ... the centre-backs, Busquets, Koke ... in short, all those who have come out have been at a great level.

"Gavi has not surprised me. He has personality, courage, quality, football ... he is also a physical marvel. He had the task of marking his idol, Verrati, and he has fulfilled more than enough. He is the present of Spain, but it is necessary to give normality and naturalness to these young people. The path is set by the Koke, Busquets, Azpilicueta, in short, the veterans."
