Aston Villa boss Dean Smith admits England could lose Ezri Konsa and Matty Cash.
The pair still have dreams of representing the Three Lions but Konsa also qualifies for Portugal, while Cash is available to Poland.
Smith said, "(Ezri) is desperate to play international football. I believe he's got Portugal who are pushing for him as well.
"He's a very talented player and him not getting called up will act as him trying to prove people wrong and to try and get into that squad.
"Who knows, he may have a couple of choices in the next (international) window.
"But we're 13 months away from a World Cup and all players will have their eyes on it. Whether that's Matt Cash going with Poland or Ezri going with Portugal.
"They have the opportunities to do that.
"For me, Ezri has been a model of consistency since he got into the first-team at Villa.
"He will want to go to the World Cup and they'll give themselves the best chance they can of doing it.
"I believe their first-choice would be England. If it's not, they'll only wait so long before other countries come calling.
"Matt Cash, for example, has already said he would like a discussion with me to get my thoughts on (Poland).
"I'm sure Ezri will want the same. It will be down to them.
"Gareth (Southgate) knows I'm here. He knows I'm always here to speak to if he wants to know anything about any of my players."
