PSG chiefs explored the prospect of prising Jordan Henderson away from Liverpool over the summer.
That's according to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
"Before Messi signed, they were looking for a midfielder," said Romano.
"(Paul) Pogba was more than complicated because United wanted to keep him and PSG tried for Jordan Henderson when he couldn't get a new deal with Liverpool."
On transfer deadline day, Henderson signed a new contract with the Reds.
