Ecuador are delighted with the commitment of Brighton youngster Jeremy Sarmiento.

Sarmiento, 19, was born to Ecuadorian parents living in Madrid and spent time in London growing up.

Carlos Manzur, vice-president of the Ecuadorian FA, said: “We had been talking precisely about this player because he is a player that We wanted to have in the under-20s.

“His parents did not allow him to come, but wanted him to be part of the senior teams, but he was young.

“He is already in the senior team today and I hope it goes well for him."

Sarmiento was on the bench for Albion as they drew with Arsenal on Saturday.
