Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi has received support from the French press over his midweek controversy against Galatarasay.
In Europa League action with Olympique Marseille, Guendouzi was convinced he had won a penalty during the 0-0 draw after an apparent foul by Gala fullback Patrick van Aanholt. However, the ref chose to overturn his original penalty decision via VAR.
French pundit Daniel Riolo told RMC: "I agree with Mattéo Guendouzi. I do not understand how the referee stays 10 minutes in front of the screen to watch. You have to explain to me, the rules have changed and there is only a penalty when the guy is caught by his feet in the box?
"But the defender of Galatasaray, he gets into him, there is a penalty. There is a total imbalance, the VAR is useless, because the contact at real speed we can see it very well. This fact of the match changes everything, it's a quarter of an hour from the end."
