Liverpool legend John Aldridge says Curtis Jones could be a regular this season.

Aldridge suggests Jones could give the Reds the additional goals they have been missing from their midfield player in recent years.

"If Curtis Jones played every game for Liverpool this season, I reckon he would end up with 10-15 goals and that's what the side have been lacking in the last few years," Aldo told the Sunday Mercury.

"Steven Gerrard always scored goals from midfield and so did Philippe Coutinho, but Liverpool haven't really had a player making that type of contribution since.

"If the forward players don't score, Liverpool tend to struggle, so they need goals from midfielder and defenders coming up for set-pieces.

"I was speaking with Jurgen last week when I was at the announcement for the expansion of Anfield about Jones and mentioned to him that he could be the answer to the goal problem in midfield. He didn't want to give too much away, but I was with Kenny Dalglish and Ian Rush and they agreed with me.

"I watched Jones playing a lot in his time with the Liverpool under-23 side and he has a great eye for goal with his long-range shooting, so he could be vital for Liverpool this season."
