Paulo Fonseca is waiting on a call from Newcastle United to confirm his appointment.
Sky Sports says Fonseca is in Ukraine following what have been described as “positive talks" on Wednesday with Newcastle United over the vacant manager's post.
Fonseca is said to be ready to take over if Newcastle decide to recruit him.
He remains the bookies' favourite to get the job but is one of a few candidates under consideration.
Fonseca is a free agent after leaving Roma last season.
