Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell says Leeds United goalkeeper coach Marcos Abad deserves credit for Illan Meslier's progress.

Abad has played a key role in Meslier becoming one of the most promising young 'keepers in Europe, with the 21-year-old registering 11 clean sheets last term.

"You have to give huge credit," he told Football Insider.

"Meslier is a really good goalkeeper. I knew nothing about him when he came to Leeds but I have been very impressed with him. He is one of the best young goalkeepers around.

"To be starting in the Premier League as a goalkeeper at 21 is good going.

"I have noticed his game is steadily improving. He is solid and he rarely makes mistakes. Fair play to the goalkeeper coach there, it's huge to keep him."
