Manchester United should cut all ties with departing vice-chairman Ed Woodman.

So says former Leeds striker Kevin Phillips.

It was revealed earlier this month that Woodward could remain at United in a consultancy role.

"That won't go down well with the fans," he told Football Insider.

“I'm surprised by the news, to be honest with you. You'd think the Glazers know the backlash that is going to come with it.

"This is Manchester United though so you would presume that they have clearly thought about it.

“It is going to be really interesting to see how the fans react to it if it is confirmed.

“It is not too long ago that we have the European Super League issue and Ed Woodward was heavily involved. I'm sure the fans won't have forgotten that."
