SEMPORNA: The Marine Police Force (PPM) deported two foreign nationals found encroaching into Malaysian waters, Tuesday.
Its Operations Headquarters Commanding Officer, DSP Mohammad Ismail, said the boat, with two men onboard, was spotted in the North Sea waters of Pulau Pom-Pom near here while a team of PPM was patrolling the area.
“Inspection of the boat found that the two men were believed to have come from the Philippines and the boat did not have a registration number,” he said, adding that following the inspection the duo was escorted off Malaysian waters.
“The action was carried out to curb the spread of Covid-19 in line with the regulations under the Right to Control Diseases-Infectious Diseases Act 1998,” he said
Mohammad Ismail calls on the maritime community to channel any information related to illegal activities directly to its 24-hour hotline or via WhatsApp at 013-9391197.
