Rangers boss Steven Gerrard was seen in London yesterday amid reports he's in advanced talks with Aston Villa.

The Birmingham Mail says Gerrard was pictured in London on Wednesday.

Villa chief executive Christian Purslow wants Rangers boss Gerrard to succeed Dean Smith as head coach and talks are expected to take place this week.

Gerrard has enjoyed an excellent stint at Ibrox and led Rangers to their first league title in a decade last season. The Gers completed the 2020/21 Scottish Premiership campaign unbeaten with 32 wins from their 38 matches.

His time in Glasgow could be coming to an end though with Villa determined to make him their next manager.

Talks are expected to take place between Villa, Gerrard and the manager's representatives imminently and the club hopes to have their preferred candidate in place for training next week.
