
Kota Kinabalu: Three people claimed trial in the High Court here Thursday to drugs trafficking, respectively.
Trader Leong Kwang Yew, 45, Daniel Donney, 20, and Nur Aqeela Aina Farhana Abdul Rahim claimed trial to the charge framed against them.
Leong who was brought before Judge Datuk Nurchaya Hj Arshad, allegedly trafficked 213.59gm of syabu at B-02-GC, second floor of Block B, Jesselton Condominium, Jalan Bersatu, Damai in Luyang at 8.20pm on Sept 11, 2018.
The court set Dec 16 for first pre-trial case management.
Daniel who appeared before Judicial Commissioner Amelati Parnell, is accused of trafficking 68.78gm of syabu at 9.10pm on July 11 this year at Lorong Kuala Neutron, Inanam.
His case would be mentioned on Jan 11 for case management.
Aqeela is accused of trafficking 82.17gm of syabu at 4pm on June 26, this year at the roadblock 2 area Jalan Sulaman near here.
She was jointly charged with another accused, Mohd Nor Zainal, 29, her husband, in committing the offence.
Mohd Nor was not brought to court as he was under quarantine due to being in close contact with a positive Covid-19 patient. Amelati fixed Jan 11 for case management on Aqeela as well as for Mohd Nor’s plea to be taken.
Each charge under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act carries the death sentence or imprisonment for life and whipping of not less than 15 strokes if not sentenced to death, on conviction.
All accused were ordered to be remanded further pending the date as the charges against them have no provision for bail. Deputy Public Prosecutors Rustam Sanip and Azreen Yas Mohamad Ramli prosecuted.

Leong was represented by counsel PJ Perira while Aqeela was represented by counsel Hairul V. Othman.
