Anatoly Meshcheryakov is "surprised" by Manchester United's move for Ralf Rangnick.
Rangnick is set to leave his technical director's position at Lokomotiv Moscow to become caretaker manager of United.
Meshcheryakov is a former Loko chairman and said: “Surprised by this news.
"But these are questions for those who made this decision. But I'm used to the fact that if a person has some obligations, then in Russia it is customary to fulfill them, to bring everything to the end.
"If, of course, these obligations were there. But this is very surprising news."
Rangnick moved to Loko only in July and his deal runs to 2024.
