Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand was lost for words when asked to describe Cristiano Ronaldo's latest heroics for the team.

The Portuguese rescued a Champions League group stage point for the Red Devils away from home against Atalanta.

United needed a stunning solo hit from Ronaldo in the 91st minute to earn a 2-2 draw and remain top of the group.

Ronaldo had also equalised for United late in the first half after an outstanding Bruno Fernandes assist.

"He don't work hard enough, he doesn't close people down, he don't press but he puts the ball back into the net… but puts the ball in the back of the net, the hardest bit about the game," Ferdinand said after the game.

"Everyone tries to be that guy in the critical moments, he steps up any time, any stadium, any country, any place biggest moments he's there to deliver.

"It's just mind-boggling. There aren't any words, anymore, we can say about this guy that to justify the way that he puts the ball in the back of the net and just arrives on the big occasion and delivers."
